The Hidden Battle
For many women, the postpartum journey is a complex mix of overwhelming love and a quiet, internal struggle with a changing body. In a world dominated by "snap-back" culture and social media filters, the pressure to look like motherhood never happened is immense. This is where the battle against bodyshaming—both from the outside and from within—begins.
Why This Session Was Different
I recently had the honor of photographing my friend Josie and her beautiful newborn. This wasn't just about capturing cute baby toes; it was about honoring the woman who gave life. Josie shared that she felt this session helped her feel more confident and better about herself. This is the true power of photography. It’s a 10/10 experience that even I, as my own biggest critic, am incredibly proud of.
Breaking the Silence on Bodyshaming
We often hear that "meaningful stuff" is what people love, and they are right. Real beauty isn't found in a perfect, airbrushed stomach—it’s found in the strength of a body that created a miracle.
The Scars: Each mark is a map of where your child once lived.
The Softness: It’s the first pillow your baby ever knew.
The Changes: They are symbols of your transition into the most powerful version of yourself.
The Role of Photography in Healing
My goal at Lens and Lights by Bea is to move beyond the "perfect" and capture the raw and honest. When you see yourself through my lens, I want you to see what I see: a goddess who is breathtaking exactly as she is.
Photography is a tool for reclamation. It’s a way to look at your postpartum body and say, "I am proud of what I have done."
Join the Movement
f you are struggling to see your own beauty after birth, I invite you to my studio in Daytona Beach. Let’s create art that celebrates your journey. You don’t need to "fix" anything before you get in front of the camera. You are powerful, you are beautiful, and you are enough.
