Hi, I'm Bea!
I get it—the thought of preparing kids for a photoshoot can be overwhelming. But here’s the good news: our sessions are designed to be fun, candid, and stress-free! As a photographer specializing in authentic moments, I’m sharing my top 5 secrets to ensure your family photoshoot is enjoyable from start to finish.
1. Timing is Everything: Work with the Energy
Never book a session during nap time or right before dinner! We schedule our beach sessions around the "Golden Hour" (sunrise or sunset), which often aligns with a child's best energy. Tip: Bring a snack or small treat that they can enjoy after the photos!
2. Ditch the "Cheese" and Embrace Candid
The biggest secret? I don’t ask kids to smile! I use games, prompts, and movement to capture real laughter and genuine connection. Your job is just to interact with your children, and my job is to capture the beautiful chaos!
3. Preparation is Power: Outfit Test-Run
A new outfit can mean a sudden meltdown! Before the session day, let your children wear their photoshoot clothes for 30 minutes. This allows them to get used to the fabrics and prevents last-minute surprises.
4. Let Go of Perfection (Embrace the Mess)
Kids run, they splash, and they might even get sandy! Those unposed, playful moments—like running away from the waves—often make the most cherished photos. My goal is authenticity, not rigid perfection.
5. Reward System: The Final Incentive
Let your children know there’s a reward waiting for them after the session is complete (a favorite ice cream, a small toy, or extra screen time). This small incentive makes a huge difference in their cooperation during the last few minutes of the shoot.
